Council turns down plans

I see the council have objected to loading houses up against the walls of the new St john's school. Good for them!! Crest Nicholson are making millions from this deal, surely there is enough cash in the pot to rebuild this school without this level of over development? What about the proposed St Peter's school site in van Diemans?  This has been promised for decades. Get that built and sell the old site in The Parade for retirement housing and pool the loot.

Plenty of room for low cost flats around Back Lane/Cardigan Road area!! Build them high enough and there will be a lovely view over the town!!

Lets just hope that Kennet reject it as well but sadly I doubt if they will have the balls to do it.

Hasn't Unelectable Gordon just announced a shed load of money to rebuild schools? If so why don't they try and get a slice of that instead of dumping more houses on the community? But as for this being a "community" school all I can say is "which community?". I do not know what he is like as a headmaster but as an advertisement for a school he is a walking, talking PR disaster.

Rant over

Let's face it, CN will get the planning permission; build more houses than they are currently asking for; break any promises they make to the school's neighbours about vehicle access, building height or location etc; ignore any conditions of planning and go for retrospective if challenged. After all if St. Johns can get away with these sort of things, why shouldn't they?
