Any one else fed up with the Chavs in the car park (up to 60 at a time)....people have had eggs thrown at them and their cars on the way through ....tonight there was shouting screaming and sounds of breaking wood and various other things ...when I went out it would appear they were smashing up the toilets bits of which were all over the car park.....any one any ideas ........perhaps Fire Brigade Hose practice would be good ....if only the river was deeper they could be flushed into that....................Mind you I am publicly stating that I will not be held resposible for any injury that happens when I run over one of the number of cyclists with no lights on their bikes, and I will claim for damage from their family as well,

Hello, i have only just found out about this forum. if i had known about it sooner i would have said something before.
Can i just firstly start by saying..... Have you ever actually spoke to anyone down waitrose/ Georgelane carpark? if you had you would discover that they are not chavs! i believe the definition you have for chav needs to be checked.. A chav is an individual or person who causes trouble for no reason, and are not nice people and are not willing to talk or compramise.... The people down waitrose will talk to someone if they actually bothered communicating rather than slagging them off..... and they would compramise, but have never been given the chance.
As for you saying... " if only the river was deeper they could be flushed into that" that is very mature do you not agree! And as for the "fire bragade and hose practice" That is perthetic...it isn't punishing needed , its listening to.
Fair enough, there has been trouble and some ocasions of vandalism and abuse i am not denying this... but you suggest something for the people down waitrose to do... some form of compramise and believe me it would be done. The people are not horrible and just need to be given a chance. As i learnt at college if you are given a tag (sterotype) then you live by it... if you get told something enough you will start to believe it and see no point in being any different. so then why dont you stop slagging off the people down waitrose and give them something positive! Then perhaps you will see how nice these people actually are.
sorry to seem that i am going off on one, but seriously just go and talk to them..

I am sure people are going to stop and talk talk to them while a hail of missiles and abuse are being hurled across the car park
if you had you would discover that they are not chavs! i believe the definition you have for chav needs to be checked.. A chav is an individual or person who causes trouble for no reason, and are not nice people and are not willing to talk or compramise....
CHAV Council House And Vauxhall seriously the list is endless but any person wearing "trackies and a hoodie and the all important chav hat"
The people down waitrose will talk to someone if they actually bothered communicating rather than slagging them off..... and they would compramise, but have never been given the chance. If they were punished they wouldn't cause damage

Why do I or any other person need to suggest something for them to do....that suggests they are the brainless idiots I take them to be.
If they cause trouble they are responsible for it and if they cause damage they should pay for it.
If they want something to do then they should organise it themselves ....oh hang on I forgot they did try to organise something last Saturday ...A fight between them and the chavs from Bedwyn ...but Bedwyn didn't turn up

Um Helloooo? does that mean that you have spoken to them before now then? if not then why not? you need to practise what you preach. Let me know if you have spoken to them, whenever they are at school, they always tell everyone where to go in no uncertain terms. I don't want to go and speak to them if they are going to be like that.
i believe the definition you have for chav needs to be checked.. um-well the people who go down the car park-if they aren't looking for trouble then why were they smashing up the toilets?? i dont call that a night time activity taht normal children do who dont want trouble. again you are saying that they have never been given the chance to talk which indicates that you havent spoken to them-so why are you telling us that they will talk if you havent tried it? I go to school with alot of them and i know alot of them and know what they are like.
Then perhaps you will see how nice these people actually are.
umm-they aren't nice. most of them live down rable view with a few living down the mead. BUT-they have no respect for others or other peoples property.
I have also heard that they might be getting a warehouse to "hang out" in so that they arent causing trouble in the town. Why do they get a reward for trashing everything and shouting abuse? I have always wanted somewhere nice to hang out in Marlborough yet no one can suggest anywhere, the chavs (and yes they are chavs-there is no other word for them) trash up some toilets and shout abuse and hey look-there is a place for them to go and decorate and make their place. So-if i were to go and trash a few places and shout abuse then would i get an oldwarehouse to decorate as i like to hang out in??
I am sick and tired of people in this town slagging off the youth and exaggerating stories for the sake of effect.
To listen to tracare and the local press (not forgetting the gossipmongers too) you would think this town was overrun by lawless hoodlums whose only interest is anarchy and destruction.
Point one - I HAVE been down (with my wife as well) to talk to the young people (calling them chavs is both ignorant and unhelpful) on more than one occasion.
The last time we went to speak to them was last night after receiving a phone message which stated that the "chavs" (their word not mine) were vandalising the public toilets and that the police had been called.
My wife and I walked across the car park to the toilets (oooo how scary - NOT) - and had a chat with a group of them. Facts?? The police had been to see them and had told them about lights on their bikes and to keep the noise down. Vandalised toilets - hmmm funny how the young people had NOT been moved on nor was there any evidence of damage.
I am a Town Councillor (as some of you know), and I can state with confidence that the REAL problems stem from the attitude of this community and most of my fellow Councillors towards young people as a whole.
Each time my wife and I have chatted with them they have been more than happy to talk and indeed they thanked us for it. They are certainly not the scary bunch that has been portrayed, but yes they are young and rowdy at times. However compare that to a group of adults coming out of the pubs at closing time getting into fights and arguing and throwing dustbins around, which we have witnessed on the High Street from people in their late twenties and early thirties.
Where are their role models? - not among the drunks and druggies in the High Street that is for sure.
Unless young people agree to be "herded" into regimented groups as Scouts/Guides/Youth Club members/Sports Club members then they are condemned.
What about other facilities for young people as in other towns around us?
Skateboard ramps/park? - turned down and now forgotten by the Town Council.
Youth shelter? - money available to provide one (from grants) - no progress because the "adults" don't want it!
Goal posts on the common ? - The Town Council have been putting this off for months despite the elderly asking for it - some Town Councillors have publicly stated that they don't want it.
What do the young people want?
Well who the hell has even bothered asking them?
The group by Waitrose (several of whom have jobs having recently left school) tell us that what they would like is a place to go that is "theirs" - something like a drop-in centre where they can be youngsters safely and more on their own terms.
They want to be able to play and mix their music and perhaps learn and practice more about art and graffiti (now a recognised art form which there are courses run for). They don't want to be out on the streets, but at least they are congregating in a lit area away from most of the residents of this town.
For god's sake we were all young once - I was no saint and I am damn sure that most other people weren't either. I am not saying that all young people are angels, and importantly nor are they. However one thing is certain - condemn them all out of hand and they will repay you accordingly and then you will only have yourselves to blame.
What do the young people want? Well who the hell has even bothered asking them?
No one has ever bothered asking me what i want. I am 17 and have no where to go apart from home. I can't get into the pubs, and my mates live too far away to just come in one night to walk around the high street. Why don't the council recognise the people who are just at home with nothing to do? Do we need to sit out on the streets before we get somewhere to go?
and as for them learning the proper art of grafetti-i bet within a year there will be grafetti on many walls in marlborough.
I am sick and tired of people in this town slagging off the youth and exaggerating stories for the sake of effect.
Last night things were being smashed ....missiles were going in and out of the toilets.....the abuse and bad language could be plainly heard from the High Street....they were riding on bikes with no lights.....I am afraid they have no excuse to break the law, they have so much given to them now ........I had a bike and on occasions a spraycan ....I rode my bike once without lights the local copper clipped me round the back of the head and made me walk home ( the copper had already informed my parents and I got another one) ....so I didn't do that again.....the spray can? I sprayed my bike the colour I wanted it.
Just so I dont get accused of exaggeration I will take a webcam next time...and supply a copy to the police or the council if needed.
If it becomes expected that to get things you break the law......I would count that as a form of terrorism.
Oh and look at the writing under my avatar

you are saying that they are breaking the law.... are you aware that by filming these people you will be breaking the law yourself?? you are not aloud to film people without their permission.
As for the ones on bikes... they arent actually doing any harm... are they? fair enough they dont have lights on their bikes..... but they are in a light up area that is a car park... and not a main road in the dark.!
Um Helloooo? does that mean that you have spoken to them before now then? if not then why not? you need to practise what you preach. Let me know if you have spoken to them
I actually speak to them everyday... so i do practice what i preach!! i talk to them everyday because i go there to talk to them and spend some time with them... most of them are my friends.. although i would like to make it clear that I DO NOT vandalise or shout abuse! and that when they do start to do this when i am there, there is a couple of them that actually tell them to stop etc... and usually they listen!
Maverick stated that him and his wife go down waitrose to see what is going on, they do indeed and they have had some lenghty conversations with everyone down there... from the way you are talking about the people down waiterose you would expect them to shout abuse and throw things at them.. well they have never had abuse shouted at them and had never had anything thrown at them! infact when everyone sees them comming the people down waiterose cant actually wait to have a conversation with these two older perople.. Maverick and his wife have shown respect and actually listened to everyone, and in return they get that back..
so if everyone down waiterose was that bad would they actually want to talk to Maverick and his wife??
One more question....... WHY DO YOU HATE THEM SO MUCH?

Filming in a public place is not illegal......but if they are doing nothing wrong what have they got to worry about ?
It cant be used as evidence in a court of law unless the people being filmed are made aware of the camera
As for the ones on bikes... they arent actually doing any harm... are they? fair enough they dont have lights on their bikes..... but they are in a light up area that is a car park... and not a main road in the dark.!
But guess who will get the blame if one of them is run over?
So what you are saying is I can drive my car about at night with no lights providing there is street light ...I dont think so .......you cant one law for one and something different for another
One more question....... WHY DO YOU HATE THEM SO MUCH?
I dont hate them....it annoys me intensely that by breaking the law they get what they want ...i.e. everything given to them...whereas those who respect the law and do nothing wrong get nothing and are rewarded by seeing lawbreakers given everything. what a rolemodel !!!!! ......be good get nothing, be bad get everything.
Also everytime any thing is broken or vandalised we (tax payers end up paying for it)

dont get me wrong, i completely understand what you are sayin.
as for you saying that "....it annoys me intensely that by breaking the law they get what they want ...i.e. everything given to them...whereas those who respect the law and do nothing wrong get nothing and are rewarded by seeing lawbreakers given everything. what a rolemodel !!!!! ......be good get nothing, be bad get everything." these people at one point were people who did nothing wrong, stayed at home and hardly saw their friends.. but they had enough of not getting listened to.. misspiggy would also like somewhere to go and maybe meet new people. Somewhere safe to go that was acceptable to the older generations. somewhere that the youth could go where they were not breaking the law..
i completely understand where you are comming from and agree.. but have you ever though that if they were given somewhere in the 1st place that they would not have turned, to crime and vandalism?? these people were not listened to..... and now they have turned to hanging out down waitrose.... and are getting into trouble with it...
That is why something needs to be done, not just for the people down waitrose but for every young person who would like somewhere to go, that they could see their friends and have something to do.
"Filming in a public place is not illegal......but if they are doing nothing wrong what have they got to worry about ?"
Feel free to film them..... but it is against the law unless you make it clear that you are filming... you arent even aloud to record cctv unless there is a sign stating that there is cctv in operation.
You tell me what you want from them, and i will tell them this... they do listen!
also, there will be a couple of us representing the people down waitrose and also the youth of marlborough at the next town councel meeting on the 31st. Then i believe that all this can get sorted out.. You can have your say, and the representitives will speak for the people down waitrose and also for the youth of marlborough.

They didn't try to organise that at all..... they got thretened and stood there ground! And it wasnt Bedwyn either.... i dont know where you get your sources of information, but that which you have got seems to be incorrect.
Also everytime they do try and organise something, they get told there not aloud to do it! you have to remember these arnt adults but are youth who dont have a lot of money to pay for things... so they cant organise things that cost money.. and in this world everything costs money.

Hmmm ok ... so a large group of young people in the car park were ALL hurling missiles .. and ALL were smashing things ... and each and every one of them could be heard from the High Street ... and of course every single one of them owns a bike and deliberately rides it around without lights?
Wow sounds like we should bring in the riot police by that account! Let me see now .. within just 45 minutes of the alleged incidents .... we walked (without shields or body armour) into this so called riot zone ... and were greeted with "hellos" etc by most of the assembled stormtroopers of the devil!
We surveyed the battleground - OH gosh ... some litter .... a few dog-ends .. and one empty coke bottle (plastic so as to cause maximum damage) - what wanton destruction!
Once again methinks the great god exaggeration has been lurking around the minds of those who like to stir!
Now shall we attempt to sort the wheat from the chaff (no tracacre and Miss Piggy not Chav) ......
As in every walk of life there are troublemakers - some young and some old. If my friend or my neighbour does something wrong does that make me also guilty by association? I hope not because if it did then we are all guilty including the sanctimonious gossipmongers!
Let me see now - has anyone asked the people sitting at home what they want? Actually yes, many times, but then do they bother to inform us - sadly no. Much easier to sit in the warm at home where mum and dad will pander to your needs while conveniently forgetting about those who may not enjoy the same luxuries.
Hmm lets generalise and create a ghetto mentality - let's label Rabley Wood View (or Rabble Wood as you like to refer to it as) or the Mead as places where most of "that type" of person comes from. In fact some of those in the car park come from other parts of town entirely.
Why is anyone taking an interest in them? Because if nobody gives them anything and they are continually ostracised by people like you then for sure they will over time cause more and more problems.
YOU try suggesting what they should do and where they should go - for some they may not be welcome at home (just as we weren't, from our broken homes). Certainly our Town Council takes no interest and turns down all requests to provide for the young. District and County also ignore them - providing only ASBOs but no incentives or initiatives.
Oh and by the way the idea of a "warehouse" Miss Piggy is not a Council idea at all if that is what you are thinking - remember they won't even provide a goalpost! Anything they get will have to be by raising awareness and by dialogue - and by organising themselves enough to work with people - this is called "strategy" and "forward thinking" in order to provide something in the future.
IF you want to ignore the future of your town feel free to continue with the bile and bigotry - alternatively try and be constructive rather than destructive - it is interesting to note that some of these same young people have formed relationships successfully with those who feared them the most up in Lawrence Acre (the elderly). Once they were brought together and met each other it changed the whole dynamic - and lets face it if they can manage it then why the hell can't the rest of us try?
"If they want something to do then they should organise it themselves ....oh hang on I forgot they did try to organise something last Saturday ...A fight between them and the chavs from Bedwyn ...but Bedwyn didn't turn up" They didn't try to organise that at all..... they got thretened and stood there ground! tell us about it!!! we helped or did organise the Marlborough carnival for 6 years.... again no money ...but it can be done .....they would get a lot of respect for raising money and starting something up themselves......not cool I know but you can make a lot of money from a cake stall ....get their parents make a cake and sell it on the stall, if they make an effort instead of holding their hands out ...I am sure any requests for help would be looked on much more favourably.
got the fight info from a bedwyn person

As a former resident of Rabley Wood View I am appalled that the area STILL has a reputation for trouble causing. I adored the place whilst I lived there. Yes it is social housing. The horror. I am sorry I cannot afford to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on my own home but that does not condemn me as a bad person. Most of the residents of that street take great pride in the place and work hard to improve the image of the area as narrow minded people still consider it to be the pits of hell.
Wherever you go in the country you get kids hanging about meeting their friends and socialising in the only place available to them. If the police dont have a problem with them and your councillor does not have a problem with them then it can hardly be considered gang warfare. If the kids/youths need somewhere to go is that too much to ask for?
