Merchant's House

Most people will have seen the front page of the gazette this week and I can see that restoration will cost a lot of money....and I know that 17C furniture is very expensive  but how can a 30' x 20' garden cost £35,000 to "remodel"  and where are they going to put £150,000 of computer equipment .....they would need a wharehouse for that amount of computers

Yep I read the G&H report and will give some money towards this worthy cause but, like you, I'm at a a loss to understand how the IT spend can be so high. I can only think it is about £30,000 for the hardware (and that is still a lot of hardware!) and £120,000 for some bespoke software to be developed ..... or maybe it's to pay for a computer consultant - if so I'll do the whole lot for £125k. How much would you charge Rob?

If anyone knows what the £150k is going to be spent on, please let us know.

Knowing what they use and what tasks they have a at the moment £20,000 would buy the the best of the best......there just physically isnt enough room for any more than 4 PCs and maybe a server (not sure they would ever use it) a decent scanner and a good colour laser printer......maybe some for a decent website.......but £150,000 is going into the realms of fantasy

Try www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk as all these "facts" seem to be something of a myth.
