Barn St Sweet Shop

Does anybody remember the name of the lady who ran the sweet shop selling home made sweets in the late 60s, early 70s on Barn St?

Hi Graham

Nice to see a new member on here....we believe the name of the person who ran the shop was a Mrs. Strutt   .......I went to school with her grandson Peter

Hi Robert,

Many thanks for the reply. I asked because a friend of mine used to shop there while she was at school (and now lives abroad). She loved the home made fudges and things, but couldn't remember the lady's name when she was eulogising about the sweets! Hopefully she will be impressed at this speedy reply...

I am not sure, but, in 1995, I visited a Jumble sale a the church on High Street, and purchased a package of Rum Fugde.  I believe the name on the label was a Mrs. Strutt.  Could this be the same one?

Hi,

I suspect Mrs Strutt may have run the shop after the lady we are looking for. If you were buying seets in 1995, that would be around 25 years after the period we are asking about. The lady was quite old then apparently, so it is unlikely she would be selling sweets 25 years later.

All comments and suggestions still welcome, and thanks to everyone who has replied so far!

Graham

Yes, I used to go to her shop from 1973.
