Is Anyone Out There?

So, is anyone around?  It's half term, so maybe a number of you have gone off somewhere.  If you did then maybe you could tell us where.  We spent a few days at a lake north of Houston, which made a pleasant change.  We are looking forward to being able to hop over to France once we return to Hampshire in the summer.  Lets hear what's going on!

Ji Jeremy,

When are you going back in UK.  I'm going over in Sept for 3 weeks.

Our weather has turned really good and today we got a little much needed rain. Everything is getting really dry and that is not good because of forest fires.

Well thats it for now

Regards Pat

I went to the Dorset Steam fair last year, Its a good event as it is run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts so the out and out commercialism isn't present, All the times I have been it always seems very warm dry and dusty, last year was very warm, 30C. It is a huge site as well so if you ever go take some walking boots or shoes.

Been to the Dorset steam fair...and yes it stretches over about 5 large fields so take walking boots......the Steam fair at Oare this weekend is run by the Wiltshire Agricultural Preservation Group and is normally a good show.....I ended up being exhibitor 96 or something so there should be at least that many Steam engines/tractors etc.......and the entry price is good too £5 adults and £3 for concessions/OAP ...should be a good weekend and we will be there most of the time so if you see us come over and say hello

Well of course we are all here!!  Just too busy to come into this great site and chat.  Let's face it, the Summer has started and all the activities with it.  Non stop now till September - went to a fantastic exhibition in Ogbourne St George yesterday - art, pottoery, glass and so much more, today it was a Drum Circle in Alton Barnes, this evening there is a barn dance in Mildenhall, tomorrow it's the opening of the Tipi Site in Wooton Rivers - Monday .............. I could go on!!!  Living in Marlborough is a round of the most fantastic things to do, people to meet, places to go - I love it!  There are Mystics, healers, dowsers, drummers, people who are in touch with that which is from reality to spirituality.  It can be plain good fun or an experience beyond your imagination.  Bored?  Come to Marlborough then, you may feel there is so much to see, to know and to do that there are not enough hours in the day to fit it in!  Then, of course, Avebury is just down the road and Summer Solstice looms........  The Artists will be opening their homes soon, Jazz Festival will arive in July - Marlborough Summer School close on its' heels..........and so it goes on.

Take heart - take love - but more than that give love..

Sounds like you're having a great time!  What is this Tipi site, by the way?  And out of interest, could you tell us which course or courses you are taking at the summer school?  I used to love going there and took tennis, wine tasting (not at the same time) and other things there.  The atmosphere was really good.

Hi Jeremy

The Tipi site is a lovely place in the middle of nowhere - several tipis in situ for the summer, used for events etc.  It is opening this afternoon and I shall go down with my djembe drum and some friends to spend time.  Look on the Kaya website - google will find it - to know more.

SummerSchool this year will be great as usual!!  I'm on an African Drumming course and then, as always, a Belly Dance (actually classical Arabic Dance not naughty cabaret stuff!!) course.  I started learning a few years ago and just love to dance.  I'm not good at it, but can successfully do a few moves including shimmying.  This sort of dance is very therapeutic, good for muscles and more particularly for me, my joints.  I find it relaxing as well as a wonderful excuse to get dressed up in very girly stuff!!

This time of year is just so interesting - you would have to be a very boring person to be bored in Marlborough!  Open Studios to visit if you're into Arty stuff, Township Choir to sing in at the Jazz Festival.... I could go on and on!  Then there's always a river that needs attention in the litter department - what could be nicer on a summer day that wading around in the river collecting litter?

Sun's out - must go!
