Will you help again

Just been on the news ....

A friend helped his neighbour put up a conservatory and a joist fell down blinding the person (owner) he was helping ............the owner has now sued his ex ...friend and neighbour for £80,000 and won, the poor chap will have to sell his house to pay for it......

Who will you be helping today?

I think from now on I will do what the bloke said after the trial ( tell them to get stuffed)

I think you have to, it should be the main part of a decent society.                                   I'm not just thinking about construction but general everyday things as well.                       As we become American everyone will have to watch out for the "I'm suing you" habit. Its up to the people who bring these cases and try them to make fair and decent decisions.

Where does litigation stop? We may all have to carry a rip off pad of disclaimers everytime we offer anyone help.

Out here in Houston, our Brit friends don't invite the local American kids to play on their super size trampoline in case they hurt themselves.  Our home insurance covers for accidents to visitors.  Part of the problem is that medical cover is expensive and they go OTT with tests for everything if they can.

My daughter's school bus was involved in a small accident and she said her neck hurt.  The cost ran into thousands of dollars, paid for by the insurance company of the person who collided with the bus.  The company were also worried about us suing their client- we didn't but the locals may well have done so.

Car insurance and all other insurance is very expensive out here, so everyone pays- unless you don't bother with it!  As far as medical cover, there are millions of Texans who don't have any cover, so it creates a divided society.  It's sad but it seems that the UK is going the same way as over here.  Anyone remember the take out coffee from MacDonalds claim?
