Carnival

It is now almost certain there will be no carnival this year......I have found a mention of a carnival in 1905....so this could be Marlborough's 100th year.

thoughts anyone.....but if I hear "THEY OUGHT TO" I will be round with a big stick...it is your carnival and as such it is WE OUGHT TO.....................(suggest inserting "volunteer to help")

for instance did you know that in 2003 Marlborough carnival was bigger than Pewsey.

so come on answers please what has gone wrong, where has all the help gone, is marlborough just gods waiting room, why is Marlborough so miserable, can we not have fun any more?

I think the lack of replies has answered this one then

The Carnival is not wanted

I used to love the carnival when I was growing up in Marlborough and dressed up and went in parade many times.  I remember the time that Margaret Fitzgerald was Queen with Mary Major as one of the Princesses, trying to think who the other one was? It alwlays was a fun time and lots of things to do.

Again it boils down to the same good and faithful volunteers doing all the work. Its a shame more people aren't interested in keeping it going.  But you do need those volunteers andthe more there are, the less work for each to do and therefore not feel so overwhelmed.  It is a lot of work.
