Wilts Gazette is it biased?

I think the Wilts Gazette is biased to towards Pewsey news ...maybe Pewsey has more news? but it is very obvious that if a similar thing happens in Marlborough the Pewsey event will get more page space, a bigger write up or more pictures. I am not alone in this theory as people have written to the Gazette on this issue.

There is a poll for you to vote on, nobody can see who has voted, so don't be shy and if you want let your feelings be known post it here

I personally do not think it is biased; it is just incompetent. It has to be one of the worst local papers I have ever read.

I think it monitors Marlborough Town Council (always good for a laugh), and then current topical issues such as the new school, Riverside Theatre, mobile telecommunication masts. It seems to leave the rest of the contents to outside contributors so I would guess that there are more of them in Pewsey than in Marlborough.

If you think it is bias towards Pewsey then try finding any news of what is happening in the villages in the area. Newsworthy events happening there (fires, accidents etc) rarely even get a mention.

It seems that the days when a reporter went looking for a story are a thing of the past.

Hmmm having seen this week's exciting issue I can see what you mean. about the Pewsey bias. However I suspect that either the paper's reporter lives in Pewsey or, as said above, they have residents there who are feeding news (if you can call it that) to the editor.

What surprises me is that despite last weeks revelation that Marlborough Town Council have suddenly realised what the Riverbank complex may lumber them with and controversially rejected the building's plans (as if that matters now), there was NO letters to the paper from any Marlborough resident! However there was a letter from the promoter's camp basically saying "tough - you once said you wanted it and now its too late to change your mind cos we are on a mission from god" (small g so as not to offend anyone).

I think Apathy rules in Marlborough and they will get the theatres- all 4 of them - they deserve. Lets just hope its their Council Tax bills which pays for it and not mine.
