Anyone heard whats happening to the old newsagents shop next to the Library? They seem to have been months working on it's interior. And what about London Road Post Office? Whats that going to be?
I think London Road Post Office will revert to a house.....but as for the other one another womens high fashion shop perhaps .....that would be really usefull

Heard a rumour that the shop next to the Library was going to be a Subway .... almost as necessary as another womens high fashion shop .... but it is just a rumour and that was several weeks ago, so probably been outbid by that women's high fashion shop!
Also empty for a very long time now ... the old Age of Elegance shop which has had a small notice on the door now for many months claiming that "refurbishment" was the reason for closure! Yet another rumour claims that fire regulations are the real problem. Whatever the reason, it is yet another good example of prime retail space laying dormant as the reasons to shop in our town slowly disappear.
Not sure about the Hungerford branch, but Age of Elegance was still open in Devizes today. Have they sold the name or is it just Marlborough they have closed down?
Sadly a new Sainsburys or Tesco looks unlikely as there are no premises currently available that are suitable.
The only possibilities for that would be the TH White site or the land around Dean's garage some of which is owned by Kennet as I understand it and some by Dean.
Unfortunately it appears that there are no signs of anything happening with either site.
Now i know why there is a world wide wheat shortage, it's not global warming or droughts or wars it because marlborough has too many bloody sandwhich shops rocker
As I mentioned a couple of weeks back the Subway story has been doing the rounds for a while - for once it seems like the original rumour is now being confirmed by your sources too Rob.
The planning application for Age of Elegance if approved by Kennet as well, will give us yet another place to eat! - lets hope it gives us something a bit different perhaps like Perrins used to be?
