Dog mess

It's job to be polite about this, but how do you feel about all the dog mess on the common? I know there are some responsible owners who clean up after their dogs but for every responsible owner there appears to be 3 bad ones, the common is covered in dog muck, you can't walk across it without getting covered in it, kids get covered in it and as for the chap who cuts the grass on the common his mower is plastered with the stuff.  isn't it about time this stopped?

It's easy - you get out there with your video camera and a supply of little green bags.  Film the happenings and when the offending owner approaches - just offer them a little green bag (they come free from Marlborough Town Council Office).  Last time I did this the bloke threatened me - then got into his car. The Police were very helpful though and he's never walked his dog round these roads again!

Seriously though, don't put yourself in danger, but when dog owners think they are being watched they tend to "do the right thing".

Make the dog licence £100 per annum and increase the fines for the mess. If people want to keep animals in houses in unnatural conditions then they should be held totally responsible for the consequences. Even badgers use a communal latrine, away from their sett and bury the waste.

I really hate dog mess wherever it is found. Owners know they should clean up but unfortunately not many seem to. I am sure they wouldnt want to tread in it!
