We have the Silent Circle in Compton Bassett now which has resulted in an influx of our friends from over the pond in the area - we are taking note of some of the classic questions to be asked like...

"Wow! Is this High Street, England? I've heard so much about this place"

"It's so quaint"

"How do we get to Castle Com-be"

"Chippenham? - do they eat lots of Fries with ham there?

RE: Great Americans!

Well I was born in Marlborough and married one of those quaint Americans.  It's so funny that Americans get so much bashing in England, but the English just can't get enough of America.  Music, food, entertainment, fashion......I could go on and on.  Love Marlborough but LA rocks!

RE: Quaint Americans!

firstly I Would like to appologise to kit about the america bashing and say that not all of us in marlbough are sheltered bumpkins some of us are more enlightend. taking the piss out of the way someones accent sounds is just a lazy attempt at humour. america has a lot to bash especially pre- obama I mean how could you vote in bush, but then again we did the same mistake voting thatcher, and all that religious obsession pah ! but what a country it is, generally kind people and fantastic countryside. secondly I must contest with kits veiw that we english can't get enough of american culture ok your movie industry produces plenty of good films and some of your tv programmes are pretty good but musically we knock you into a ****ed hat although frank zappa is a hard act to beat. and as for food don't get me started, pile it high and sell it cheap is not the way to go. what the states need in the way of food is decent cheese, bread, and beer that would be a start. any way all americans are welcome to come here just bring plenty of bucks to spend and don't worry about the pronounciations we like you really, just a bit less of the jesus thing
love light and peace rocker

First, I agree with you when it comes to the decent cheese, bread and beer, I'm still buying Newcastle Brown. We were stunned when Bush was voted in for a second time. As for coming over and spending our bucks, well it appears we are spending them all on the car industry here! I haven't become born again and still have my PG Tips every day. I miss England but I must admit LA is such fun and I love the sunshine. So Rocker, you rocked my day.
