Christmas Lights

Having complained bitterly about the lights in Marlborough High Street last year I'm so grateful that Tim Smith and team have made a huge difference this year.  I just drove into the High Street from St Peter's end - with the bend in the road there, it looks absoulutely fantastic.  What a really superb effort that was!  Enormous helpings of gratitude to all involved - hope the lighting fund is an ongoing thing to build on for next year - I would be delighted to contribute - and I hope lots of you will too!

Lights are good this year  (amazing what can happen when the shops donate isn't it).......but how much have the council donated this year.....I suspect very little ...whereas in previous years they gave £500 ..........

two slight problems ......I drove into the High Street last night and nearly ran someone over because the lights are so bright it makes pedestrians difficult to see until your eyes get used to it.......the other .....I dont think the fixing plates on the buildings where meant to have a lot of weight hung from them ...or that some of the buildings on opposite sides of the road can take being pulled towards each other .....so if you see any parts of the building coming away or fixing plates coming off ....let someone know

I unerstand the lights in the High Street are really lovely this year. Pity the webcam isnt up and running, for those who dont live in Marlborough, would be nice to see them. but I see from Rob's comment on the home page, that pictures are coming.
I would just like to say how proud I am of my nephew Tim and his team. When I was there in Sept, they were hard at it. Takes a lot of time organizing and planning, but it shows it can be done, and the people of Marlborough should be proud of their main street.
Just wish I was there to see it for myself.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone....
