To be honest with 4 theatres and the town hall (which used to have plays with casts of hundreds) I could never see the need for another ......all that would happen is all the ratepayers would end up paying for it when it went bust, also add to that the loss of 50 parking spaces and it would seem to be the biggest white elephant ever

I've heard that it was the organisation at fault by not keeping him in the loop, having meetings etc without infoming him. this whole debacle is so british a small clique who want to run an organisation like a private club. here is a great chance to receive financial help from somone who could make this theatre really work, thats how he makes his fortune, the entertainmennt industry. also there are too many people who don't want new things in the town, doom merchants already dismissing the theatre as a waste of time and money.  English people don't like change i'm afraid

I think it's the best thing really. Grants, subsidies etc are all drying up and this project would have needed lots of them to survive. It was just a luvvies dream. R.I.P.
