So, how was the steam fair at Oare. By the way Rob, I think you you said you were exhibiting an engine, or something- what was it? I guess the next thing in Marlborough is the Jazz Festival, or is something else on beforehand? I used to help out at the Jazz do years ago- how do people view it now?
Another change of subject- are you having a heatwave at the moment?
The setting for the steam fair at Oare was brilliant.... Rainscombe park right under Oare hill ..stayed the whole weekend in the caravan and the Tractor (1960 Fordson Dexta ) didn't miss a beat...we even managed to con a cultivator out of someone to make it a bit more interesting in the display and going around the ring.....it was good weather then for both days.....Saturday night when the public had gone home there was a band in the beer tent and four showmans steam engines lined up running out side with their lights on....very good evening......went up to Wootton under edge near Dursley this weekend to see a few friends we made to another and much bigger steam fair and got a bit warm 29 Deg C not sure what that is in real money but thank you someone for air conditioning in the car!!!! even back at home the patio is too warm to sit out on 34 deg C, this country is all or nothing
But we did buy an air conditioner for the house yesterday, we have been talking about getting one for years and when it gets really hot and muggy we go to get one and they have sold out, so a bit of forward planning has paid off ( B&Q are the cheapest I could find)
I think the Jazz festival may be the next thing ( http://www.marlboroughjazz.co.uk ) although the Ships crew from HMS Marlborough will be marching down the High Street for the last as the ship is being decommissioned in a few Sundays time
