M&S Closing

Well it has finally been announced that M&S is to close. What with Woolies going it will make a big dent in the High Street. In the current climate it is hard to imagine any other trader wanting to "expand" into Marlborough so it looks like we are in for a future of an ever emptying High Street. A sobering thought.

Will anyone miss M&S?

Happy New Year everyone

yes I've just saw the news on the tele. no surprise really I personally quite like m&S for treats ,not main shopping, far too dear. oh well more crap shops will probably come to the town I really don't think there are enough italian fluffy pillow shops or bad taste interior shops and I'M sure we could do with some more naff old lady's clothes shops and even more sandwich shops. whats the odds for the jigsaw puzzle shop lasting to spring. our town is in danger of becoming as rubbish as as the town council oh i'm off to down the pub

Have heard a rumour that Tesco express is after the old woolies site....and to be honest depression or not M&S was never going to last long here anyway.......so another clothes shop? I don't think so it's too big for that.........Wilkinsons are looking for sites though

Sorry Rob but Iceland have already announced which Woolworths branches they are buying (about 50 of them) .... but sadly Marlbrough is not one of them ..... but bizarrely Devizes is!!

They only left there a couple of years back after selling to M&S Food!!

Devizes must have more supermarkets per head of population than almost any other town in Britain!!
