useless town hall

I've just read in the local rag that the powers to be are going to spend a shed load of cash on the town hall very commendable that they are doing something for the disabled but I have a much better idea pull the place down it's not used that much, mainly as a sale room for a continuously closing down sale of persian carpets and crap clothes. In its place you build a multi story car park,  think of the revenues, and all to the town council they will have loads of extra cash to mismanage. then remove the central car parking area have a complete pedestrian zone with a central French style green area. flower beds, kiosks, boulle pitch etc. great eh !
love light and peace,rocker

The Town hal wasn't built that well to start with......stone blocks laid the wrong way etc. etc.....but it has sort of become a symbol for the town, besides there is nowhere near enough floor space for it to become a car park, also the revenue would go to Kennet/Wiltshire council ...so no extra cash for them.

I have never worked out why we have a town hall and the council have their offices somewhere else....surely using the hall and renting out their offices would bring in some money.

And the idea of trees etc. in the high street .....it's not new....I have seen a proposal for just such an idea with a stream and fountains as well ........from about the early 1800s smile.gif ...trouble is it would get rid of over 200 parking spaces and we would then really need a bypass
