Do you want the theatre or the cinema or both ..... or neither............please bear in mind the theatre will increase your Council TAX every year and we will have at least three theatres in the town very soon....they cannot all survive without stealing money from us through Council TAX..... the River bank Theatre extimates it will require funding of £66,000 per year so in the real world double that figure and add on 10% per year so £132,000 in the first year £145,200 the next year and so on..... there are too many theatres now...all making a loss.... if they are wanted as some people claim they would not need funding.

Is it interesting that nobody has voted for theatre on its own? Maybe not, I think many people realise that a stand alone theatre would not make money and would not satisfy the local and tourist needs. That's why the Riverbank Project has combined not only a cinema and theatre but also has a conference centre planned in and Cafe and with any luck some public loos! I think you should all go and take a look at the website: www.riverbank.org.uk - then see what you think!
If a Theatre / Cinema is going to happen it must happen centrally. But Where?
As for theatre or and cinema why not both and more. In Sheffield they even play snooker
If people want it to pay its way then it surely must be so vesatile a place to allow for everything Music, Plays, Films, (not just hi brow elitist stuff) Comedians, Exhibitions, Conventions, is that it, no, but it'll do for now
It must be forall the people of the town and local area not just the chosen few.
It has to be a cinema. The nearest one to here is in Swindon and not even in the centre of Swindon. How are our children expected to get there to watch movies if the parents cannot take them? With the public transport prices (and the prospect of losing the number 70 bus service) this really makes what is a perfectly ordinary day out for most out of the reach of many here.
