It's the first grant they have received in the 20 odd years they have been restoring the house....everything so far has been done with interest free loans from friends of the house and profit from the shop.
As the Town owns the house and it is run by a trust it is actually saving us all money by getting this grant because it has to be restored/looked after (historic house kept a very close eye on by english heritage so the work has to be done).....and on top of that Kennet will never give money direct to our council (they hate each others guts)....
Don't complain too much if was taken away Marlborough would never see a penny of of it again.
