whats happened, why is no one adding to the forum (apart from those civil war anoraks) come people . nothing from rob even. there's the carnaval revival to comment on and there's ummm ummmm yes I see now not much to think about in marly. what do you think of this then, lets close the high street to all traffic, plant trees down the middle in a french styly bullivard and have the the whole place pedestianised , what about the shops I hear you say, most are pretty crap anyway I mean how many types of fluffy Italian pillows does one really need we could even build a new multi story car park somwhere any comment / ideas cheers you rocker
You hit the nail on the head ...there's not much happening...and I have been a bit busy job searching...as I am now unemployed But there are strong rumours that Vyella and Woolworths will be closing and maybe M&S might follow.
The Carnival not much to report as yet except what was in the papers ........A fun day/large fete with car boot, charity stalls, fire engines maybe some vintage tractors, helecopter flights, dog show etc. etc. I don't think there will ever be another procession around the town as it costs too much to put on (20K) and we can't get enough help to put it on!

You can always try mending fruit machines!!! Anyway why cant you get a sparky job?? Seems we have to call you lot in every time we change a light bulb. I got an extension going up shortly I could do with some free labour,.......I keep you fed and watered. How do you fancy a bit of digging??
Also the Council is looking to twin up with a town in Europe ...any suggestions? I still think we should twin with marlborough Mass USA ....I know it's not europe but they have more links and ties with us than anyone else, and there is already a steady exchange of people from both towns and has been for a few years.

Marlborough Mass is a very good idea, as long as twinning does not result in any trips for our elected representatives on Marlborough Town Council, at our expense. Their behaviour towards each other has been absolutley apauling and of great embarassment to our town. With this in mind, perhaps Beirut may be more apt?
what about twinning with Naples in southern Italy their council is also run by a mafia who only have their own intersts in mind. frankly if the council have anything to do with twinning with somone then count me out im not interested. as you can gather I have no time for politicians at any level from the dobson/hanniford planning saga (they will get permission in the end mark my words) to ancram billing us tax payers maintenance costs for one of his substantial homes (this guy is a millionaire !!! ) ok no one has broken the law but it is still moraly wrong , one rule for them another for the rest of us take the smoking ban ( good thing) but they can still tab away in the house of commons bars I mean jeez what is the world coming to.Come the revolution...................................cor I feel better after that love light and peace rocker
Can anyone give me one good reason for twinning with anywhere? What benefit does it bring to the community or what is left of it?
We have links already to Gambia, and the Brandt Group makes sure that link is sustained. The school (St John's) already has links abroad too.
It seems to me that twinning for Marlborough will just be another excuse to spend money on "jollies" for those who already seem to be getting more than enough out of our hard earned Council Tax payments.
So come on ... anyone .... where are the benefits ... and better still if the Town Council are involved ..... where is the Business Case and any evidence of "Best Value" ??
