Call us mad if you like

Call us mad if you like, but we are considering starting up the Carnival again ......yep I know confirmed stark staring mad........but it will be only for one day and will take the form of a BIG village fete, car boot sale, stalls, helicopter rides, charity stalls, fire engines, Bobby van, old tractors, maybe a car club.
We have NO intention of even thinking of a procession or going any where near the high street and holding this on the common,

so any ideas, are we mad? ....or any offers of help ..then post below, everyone must have an opinion on this, so no looking at this post and moving on .....you have to leave a message of some sort

Why?  Tell me the objectives for this event so I can understand why you want to drive yourselves bonkers!!

Seriously though, having been involved in a few things this summer -we were hard pressed to find a weekend that was actually free - many events clashed and that watered down attendance.

For some odd reason very few organisations seem to use the Town Diary which is held in the Library, so events dates can be entered the minute you decide thus preventing the clashing of dates.

Would need a lot of persauding as to why we need another event in town when maybe even more support could be given to ones that are already up and running........ but would love to hear your ideas!

Would love to start one but it's back to major organization and mucho dosh to even start to think about it and as we want something simple and cheap that will make money for charity, also we will probably have the same amount of helpers as we have always had (about 10 ) so it all needs to be in the same place....same goes for the footie if someone would like to organise and run it on the common at the same time then great, but we wont have the bodies to do that as well.
