Bluebells

Somewhere on the outskirts of Marlborough towards Silbury I can recall visiting a woods that were covered in bluebells.............does anyone know where the woods are and when it is open to view the bluebells.

take the A4 until you come to a sign that says clatford (About 3 miles from the town on the left hand side) take that road go straight across a cross road continue fo a couple of miles until you come to a forrestry commision sign saying west woods you can drive in so far to a small car park from there you can walk any where in the woods it is open all year round, but for one weekend in may the lions man the gates and ask for donations if you don't pay they take you off to their den and feed you to their cubs and lionesses if you do manage to escape the cheatas will probably get you . no seriously it is a good cause. due to the unusual weather we are having i have a feeling that the bluebelles will be early this year

Wandered about amongst the bluebells for a while yesterday - breathing in the heavenly scent and watching as the sun sank in the sky, changing the colour of the little bells to an even deeper, breathtaking shade of blue.  On days like this I can't believe how lucky I am to live in Marlborough................

Then I came home to find that rats had gnawed a hole in my now infrequently emptied dustbin that smells of last weeks chop bone and leftovers - aaarrrgghhh!  Maybe Kennet District Council should disappear into that black evil looking place at the bottom of my bin.  Having just invested in a spectacularly pretty wooden compost bin for my patio in order to complete my mammoth effort to recycle everything I feel I'm really doing my bit!  About time KDC did there bit too - if we're going to have a recycling scheme let's do it properly!

Am off for another calming walk in West Woods to return to that beautiful contented feeling that was induced by nothing more than a tiny delicate flower - multiplied by several million.
